The Repair-and-Ponder Trip

“When you desire something, the Universe conspires to make sure it happens”

As my room-mate gets the dinner ready, armed with the now all-set mixer that took me on this little trip ending in my pondering of the above statement, I’m here making a quick push of keys. One post-rain evening in the hot and humid city of Chennai, we decided to get fixed, the defunct mixer jar that gave us the sad-smiley-countenances due to the lack of our favourite chutney-making. It was a relentless pursuit(a characteristic from problem-solving that seems to be getting ingrained deeper) of finding an open shop that would do the service and after multiple inquiries and walking back and forth, we decided to inquire a veggies vendor handling a customer couple. They went into an all-helpful-mode leading us toward the now pretty-much-precise location(somehow recalled from the older days of exploring the unknown location) and after a few miles – voila! As the reincarnation of the instrument was going on, the aforementioned customer couple beamed at the kids that had found the location(okay, that’s us the way they put it) and went into an account of all the people that could help us with household problems and left after a lot of recommendations to the repairman to serve us well(aww…!). And then, there was the repairman who would add extra components to improve the life of the machine. And the veggies vendor who couldn’t help asking if we got the job done well. Happy when you encounter a series of warm and friendly people helping you attain that target.

Phew, that was a long story out of elation from the simple things that keep life going, but skipping back, being the skeptic that I am, I’ve always been cynical of that initial statement and was looking for stories that could fit it. But no, it never is as simple as it sounds and like every other fact-of-life-statement, it comes with strings attached. The Universe will help, ‘only’ when you Ask for it, ‘only’ when you are willing to go an extra mile for it and only when you have the faith to follow what it offers. Desire drives it all.
